Editorial Policies
The European Journal of Veterinary Sciences is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and quality.
Peer Review Policy
EJVS employs a double-blind peer review process for all submitted manuscripts:
- Authors' identities are concealed from reviewers
- Reviewers' identities are concealed from authors
- Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent experts
- The handling editor makes the final decision based on reviewer recommendations
Review Outcomes
- Accept — manuscript is accepted as submitted
- Minor Revision — small changes required; re-review usually not needed
- Major Revision — substantial changes needed; manuscript will be re-reviewed
- Reject — manuscript is not suitable for publication in EJVS
Publication Ethics
EJVS follows the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and adheres to the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).
Plagiarism
All manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using iThenticate software. Manuscripts with significant overlap with previously published work will be rejected.
Duplicate Submission
Manuscripts must not be under consideration by any other journal at the time of submission to EJVS. Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously is considered unethical.
Authorship
All individuals listed as authors must meet the ICMJE criteria for authorship:
- Substantial contribution to conception, design, acquisition of data, or analysis
- Drafting the manuscript or critically revising it
- Final approval of the version to be published
- Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work
Fabrication and Falsification
Fabrication or falsification of data is considered serious misconduct. If detected at any stage, the manuscript will be rejected and the authors' institutions may be notified.
Animal Ethics
All research involving animals must comply with national and international regulations. Authors must provide:
- Ethics committee approval number
- Statement of compliance with relevant guidelines (e.g., EU Directive 2010/63/EU)
- Details of measures taken to minimize animal suffering
Conflict of Interest
Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any conflicts of interest that could be perceived as influencing decisions. Financial relationships, institutional affiliations, and personal connections must be declared.
Corrections and Retractions
- Erratum — issued for publisher errors
- Corrigendum — issued for author errors that do not affect the integrity of findings
- Retraction — issued when findings are unreliable due to misconduct or honest error
Copyright and Licensing
Articles published in EJVS are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Authors retain copyright to their work.
Privacy Policy
Personal data collected during the submission and review process is handled in accordance with GDPR. Data is used solely for editorial purposes and is not shared with third parties beyond what is necessary for publication.
Terms of Use
By using the EJVS website and submitting manuscripts, users agree to abide by these editorial policies and the journal's terms of service. The journal reserves the right to update these policies as needed.
